You do not need professional equipment to take an appealing food photo. A phone, decent natural light, and a few simple choices can make takeaway food look far more inviting.
The key is speed: take the photo while the food is fresh, hot, and still has its best texture.
Natural window light is usually the easiest option. Place the food near the light source but avoid harsh direct sunlight that creates strong shadows.
Turn off mixed room lights if possible, as different colour temperatures can make food look unnatural.
Do not over-edit. A slightly brighter photo with accurate colour is usually more appealing than a heavily filtered image that no longer looks like the actual meal.
A simple photo that shows texture, portion size, and variety can also be useful when sharing a restaurant review.
